Chemical Peels

At Atlantic Skin Care, we perform a variety of Vivier Medical Skin Peels using alpha-hydroxy acids and beta-hydroxy acids for superficial peels, and medium depth peels. This procedure removes the outer dead layer of skin, exposing the younger, healthier cells beneath.

By combining agents which lighten dark pigments and others which stimulate cell turnover and repair and protect skin from oxidizing stress, these treatments can improve the appearance of acne-prone skin, as well as skin that has been damaged by the sun and the effects of aging.

What preparation is required?

No preparation is required prior to the first session. A homecare kit of skincare products may be recommended for use between and upon completion of your peels.

What happens during a session?

A session generally lasts 15-30 minutes and is made up of several steps: the cleansing of the area to be treated, the application of the peel and finally, a soothing moisturizer. Depending on the type of peel selected, you will need between 2 and 6 sessions.

What are the after effects?

After the session, a slight redness to a sunburn effect may appear, depending on the type of treatment you have received. Mild visible peeling or flaking of skin may occur after several days.

Is it painful?

During the application of the peeling agent, you will feel tingling, a perfectly bearable feeling of heat and then everything will settle down.

How much does it cost?

The prices range from $125+HST for a single peel to $600+HST for a series of peels including homecare products.
